MLD ( manual lymphatic drainage) massage, is used primarily to promote the optimal functioning of the lymphatic vessels that lead to the circulatory system. It removes metabolic wastes, excess water, toxins, bacteria, large protein molecules and foreign substances from tissue via the initial lymph vessels and the venous capillaries. It is extremely gentle, flowing, rhythmic massage and most patients/ clients either fall sleep or go into highly relaxed state due to slow, gentle rhythmic motion involved. Lymphatic Massage for Post – Surgery Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) is frequently recommended by plastic surgeons after: • Liposuction • Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) • Breast Reconstruction • Breast reduction. This massage has been found to help prevent infection, speed up the healing process, reduce any swelling and scar tissue (fibrosis). After Liposuction clients have found that the procedure creates pools of excess lymphatic fluids which causes swelling and sometimes discomfort for the client. Surgical equipment used under the skin to remove the fatty tissue can cause inflammation and trauma. These channels can collect fat that may harden. With the help of Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) these lumps will reduce. Also for those who suffer regularly from common colds and flu.
